About
Step into the joy, meaning, and vibrant traditions of Holi, Hindu's beloved Festival of Colors. This program is designed for Hindu Canadians, families, youth, educators, and community allies who want to celebrate Holi authentically while understanding the deeper values of Dharma that make the festival more than a day of color. Through short, engaging lessons, you’ll explore Holi’s origins and key stories, the spiritual themes of renewal and the triumph of good over harm, and the cultural practices that bring communities together. You’ll learn how Holi is celebrated across different regions, what the colors symbolize, and how to prepare a celebration that is respectful, inclusive, and rooted in tradition. You’ll also get practical guidance for hosting Holi in Canadian community spaces, planning a family-friendly event, choosing safe colors, setting expectations for consent and boundaries, and creating a welcoming environment for newcomers. Reflection prompts and simple activities help participants connect the celebration to everyday values such as compassion, courage, and community service. By the end, you’ll be able to explain Holi’s significance with confidence, participate with cultural understanding, and help your community celebrate in a way that honors Hindu heritage while building connection across Canada.
