- Khalsitani Attack on Hindu Canadians | Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF)
Khalsitani Attack on Hindu Canadians | Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF) Khalsitani Attacks on Hindu Temples In recent years, Hindu temples across Canada have experienced a troubling rise in vandalism, desecration, and hate‑motivated incidents. These attacks directed at sacred spaces meant for prayer, reflection, and community gathering represent more than isolated acts of mischief. They signal a growing pattern of hostility toward a religious community and raise serious concerns about religious freedom, public safety, and social cohesion in Canada. In recent years, Hindu temples across Canada have experienced a troubling rise in vandalism, desecration, and hate‑motivated incidents. These attacks directed at sacred spaces meant for prayer, reflection, and community gathering represent more than isolated acts of mischief. They signal a growing pattern of hostility toward a religious community and raise serious concerns about religious freedom, public safety, and social cohesion in Canada. Places of worship hold deep spiritual, cultural, and emotional significance. When temples are defaced or targeted, the harm extends far beyond physical damage it creates fear among worshippers, disrupts community life, and undermines the fundamental right to practice one’s faith without intimidation. As such, these incidents are not only a concern for Hindu Canadians, but for Canadian society as a whole. This article documents and examines these incidents year by year, providing a chronological account of attacks on Hindu temples to illustrate the scope and persistence of the problem. It is important to note that this record is not exhaustive. It excludes break‑ins, burglaries, and numerous incidents that go unreported, as many temples deliberately choose to keep a low profile to avoid further targeting, retaliation, or media attention. The resulting picture, even with these limitations, reveals a disturbing and consistent trend, one that demands awareness, accountability, and action. Recognizing and understanding this pattern is a necessary step toward ensuring that all places of worship in Canada remain safe, respected, and protected. - Protect Places of Worships | Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF)
Canada’s places of worship are more than architectural landmarks—they are vital spaces of faith, belonging, and healing. At the Hindu Canadian Foundation, we proudly support Member of Parliament Jamil Jivani’s motion calling for stronger protections for these sanctuaries, and we welcome Justice Minister Sean Fraser’s legislative commitment to safeguarding public access. Amid rising hate and targeted disruption, these actions reaffirm the values of tolerance and dignity that define our country. Standing Up for Sacred Places: A United Call to Protect Places of Worship Across Canada from Violent Protesters At the Hindu Canadian Foundation, we proudly support Member of Parliament Jamil Jivani’s motion calling for stronger protections for these sanctuaries, and we welcome Justice Minister Sean Fraser’s legislative commitment to safeguarding public access. Amid rising hate and targeted disruption, these actions reaffirm the values of tolerance and dignity that define our country. Whether it's a temple, church, synagogue, or mosque, every sacred space deserves respect, and every Canadian deserves to worship freely, without fear. Faith Without Fear: Canada is trying to move forward, HCF is supporting & Watching the devlopments At the Hindu Canadian Foundation, we stand with Member of Parliament Jamil Jivani’s notice of motion to protect places of worship across Canada. This initiative is more than a policy proposal, it’s a significant step toward safeguarding the spiritual sanctuaries where Canadians of all backgrounds find peace, strength, and connection. MP, Jivani’s motion, submitted to the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage, calls for urgent action in response to a troubling rise in violence and intimidation targeting religious institutions. From Hindu temples and churches to synagogues and mosques, sacred spaces have faced desecration, vandalism, and threats. The motion urges Parliament to recognize these attacks as violations of Canadian heritage and to consider stronger legal protections, including increased penalties for arson and the implementation of “bubble zone” laws to shield worshippers from harassment. This motion is a powerful reflection of the tireless efforts of the Hindu community and many others who have long advocated for the safety and dignity of all faith groups. We believe the government must ensure these places remain safe, respected, and accessible to everyone. A Welcome Step Forward from Justice Minister Sean Fraser: In a promising development, Justice Minister Sean Fraser has announced new federal legislation aimed at preventing the obstruction of access to places of worship, schools, and community centres. The proposed laws would make it a criminal offence to intimidate or threaten individuals attending events at these venues willfully. This move aligns with the spirit of Jivani’s motion and reinforces Canada’s commitment to religious freedom and peaceful assembly. Read here: https://toronto.citynews.ca/2025/06/28/new-laws-against-blocking-access-to-places-of-worship-schools-coming-fraser-says/ Minister Fraser emphasized that “people need to know that in Canada they are free to pray to the God of their choice,” while also being protected from hate and discrimination. These measures send a clear message: Canada will not tolerate threats to its diverse communities or their right to worship freely. A Call to All Canadians & Hindu Canadians: We call on every Canadian, every neighbor, every parliamentarian, to lend their voice and support. Together, we can ensure this motion is passed with unity, respect, and the recognition it truly deserves. Our hearts go out to those who’ve experienced the pain of attacks on places of worship. When any place of faith is targeted, it’s not just an attack on a building, it’s an attack on the values we all hold dear. The Hindu Canadian Foundation is committed to doing everything we can to help this motion succeed. We stand in solidarity with every community that believes in protecting what’s sacred, and we welcome the government’s steps toward a safer, more inclusive Canada. - Khalistani Extremism - Call for Action | Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF)
Khalistani Extremism - Call for Action Stand United Against the Targetted Attack on Hindu Canadians by Khalistani Extremists Send Email to LawMakers Honorable MP [ Name] I am writing to express deep concern over the recent surge in attacks targeting Hindu places of worship across Canada. These incidents not only threaten the safety and sanctity of religious sites but also undermine the multicultural fabric of our nation. It is imperative that we implement robust policies to safeguard all places of worship and ensure the security of their congregants. Recent Incidents: November 2024: Violence erupted at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton, Ontario, where demonstrators clashed, leading to injuries and arrests. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condemned the violence, emphasizing the need for peaceful dialogue. August 2024: The Lakshmi Narayan Mandir in Surrey, British Columbia, was vandalized with anti-India and pro-Khalistan posters, causing distress within the Hindu community. July 2024: The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Edmonton, Alberta, was defaced with graffiti labeling prominent Hindu figures as "terrorists." This act was widely condemned by community leaders and politicians. January 2023: The Gauri Shankar Temple in Brampton was defaced with anti-India and anti-Hindu graffiti, sparking outrage and calls for increased security measures. Community Impact: These attacks have instilled fear among Hindu Canadians, leading to concerns about their safety and well-being. The desecration of sacred spaces not only affects the immediate community but also poses a threat to the principles of religious freedom and tolerance that Canada upholds. Call to Action: I urge you to consider the following measures to protect places of worship: Enhanced Security Funding: Allocate resources to increase security infrastructure at vulnerable religious sites, including surveillance systems and physical barriers. Legislative Measures: Introduce stricter penalties for hate crimes targeting places of worship to deter potential offenders. Community Engagement: Foster dialogue between law enforcement agencies and religious communities to address security concerns and build trust. Public Awareness Campaigns: Educate the broader public about the importance of religious tolerance and the consequences of hate-motivated actions. By implementing these measures, we can work towards ensuring that all Canadians, regardless of their faith, can practice their religion without fear. Protecting places of worship is not just about safeguarding buildings; it is about upholding the values of diversity and inclusion that define our nation. Thank you for your attention to this pressing matter. I look forward to your support in promoting policies that protect the rights and freedoms of all religious communities in Canada.
