The Hindu Canadian community is deeply distressed by the brutal killing of Dipu Chandra Das, a young Hindu man in Bangladesh whose life was taken in an act of mob violence fueled by misinformation and religious hatred. His death is not an isolated incident, it reflects a pattern of targeted intimidation and violence against minorities in the region.
Canada has always stood as a global voice for human rights, pluralism, and the protection of vulnerable communities. At a time when democratic values are under strain worldwide, silence from nations like ours carries consequences. When a young man is killed simply for being who he is, the world looks to countries like Canada to affirm that every human life has equal worth.

We call upon the Government of Canada to:
• Issue an official statement condemning the killing of Dipu Chandra Das and calling for a transparent, credible investigation.
• Engage diplomatically with the Government of Bangladesh to ensure the safety and dignity of Hindu minorities.
• Affirm Canada’s commitment to protecting religious freedom globally, including through parliamentary and ministerial channels.
• Stand with the Hindu diaspora, who are grieving and fearful as they witness repeated acts of violence against their community abroad.
Canada’s leadership matters. A clear, principled statement from our government would send a powerful message that human rights violations, wherever they occur, cannot be ignored. It would also reassure thousands of Hindu Canadians who look to their government for moral clarity in moments of crisis.
Call to the Canadian Community: HCF urges temples, schools, community organizations, and families across Canada to hold vigils in mandirs, homes, neighbourhoods, and institutions.
We request all community members to observe two minutes of silence in honour of Deep Chand and in solidarity with Hindus facing violence in Bangladesh. This moment of mourning must also be a moment of collective resolve. Violence against any community, anywhere, is a threat to justice everywhere.
We urge you to act with the compassion, courage, and conviction that define Canada’s role on the world stage.
HCF Condemns Brutal Killing of Hindu Youth in Bangladesh; Calls for Immediate Action from Bangladeshi and Canadian Authorities While the global community celebrates the holiday season, Hindus continue to face relentless attacks in Bangladesh.
