On December 10, 2025, Conservative MP Melissa Lantsman stood in the Canadian Parliament to highlight the escalating violence faced by Hindus in Bangladesh. Speaking on behalf of petitioners, she drew attention to over 2,000 incidents in 2024 alone, including:
• Arson attacks on Hindu homes and businesses
• Mob violence and forced displacement against Hindu Community
• Sexual assaults targeting Hindu women and girls
• Temple demolitions destroying sacred spaces
Her statement amplified the voices of oppressed communities and urged Canada to act before it is too late.
Atrocities against the Hindu community are increasing worldwide, and Hindus are facing extremely difficult circumstances under Islamic rule in Bangladesh. There are continuous attacks on the Hindu community, with young children being killed in broad daylight and women and girls being sexually assaulted and murdered. We urge the Canadian government to take a leadership role globally and ensure that Canadian representatives highlight this severe ongoing humanitarian crisis affecting Hindus in Bangladesh.
