- A Landmark Victory for Hindu Canadians - Recognition of HinduPhobia (Anti-Hindu Hate) in Mississauga: Motion Passed
In a powerful and historic move, @citymississauga has unanimously passed a motion to formally recognize Anti-Hindu Hate within the city. This marks a significant step forward in acknowledging the lived experiences of Hindu Canadians and affirming our right to safety, dignity, and cultural respect. We extend our deepest gratitude to @DipikaDamerla for her courageous leadership and unwavering commitment to truth. Her voice has consistently illuminated the painful realities faced by our community. We also thank Councillor @JoeHorneck for seconding the motion and standing in solidarity with Hindu Canadians. The Hindu Canadian Foundation wholeheartedly welcomes this motion. It is not just a policy decision. it is a moral stance, a public affirmation that hate against Hindus will not be ignored or minimized. We applaud every Hindu Canadian who spoke up, shared their stories, and demanded justice. Your voices mattered. Your courage moved hearts. Your presence changed history. We remain committed to advocating for Hindu rights across Canada. This victory in Mississauga strengthens our resolve to push for similar recognition and action in cities and provinces nationwide. Hate must be named to be dismantled and today, Mississauga has taken that bold first step. We are proud and profoundly grateful to @citymississauga , every council member, and staff who supported this motion with conviction and compassion. Your overwhelming support sends a clear message: Hindu Canadians belong, and our concerns will be heard. Motion passed unanimously: 9 votes in favour. Let this be the beginning of a broader movement, toward justice, awareness, and unity.
- HCF Honoured to Join Deepawali Celebration at Parliament Hill
The Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF) was deeply honoured to participate in the radiant Deepawali celebration at Parliament Hill , hosted by Hon. Gary Anandasangaree and Hon. Anita Anand . This historic gathering brought together Hindu Canadians from across the country to celebrate the sacred festival of lights in the very heart of Canadian democracy. Diyas glowed brightly across Parliament Hill, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness and reaffirming Canada’s commitment to multicultural harmony. Celebrating Unity and Tradition HCF proudly stood alongside community members, leaders, and parliamentarians to share in the joy of Deepawali. The event highlighted the values of unity, love, and cultural dignity , reminding us that Hindu traditions are an integral part of Canada’s diverse fabric. We extend heartfelt thanks to Hon. Gary Anandasangaree and Hon. Anita Anand for their leadership in hosting this beautiful celebration. Your support shines as brightly as the diyas we lit together, guiding the way toward a Canada where every community feels respected and celebrated. Shubh Deepawali: As we mark this auspicious festival, HCF wishes all Canadians a Shubh Deepawali . May light guide our path, goodwill illuminate every home, and may Canada continue to thrive as a beacon of inclusivity and respect. #Deepawali #HinduCanadian #Unity #Culture #Canada
- Between the Two Worlds: Roots and Wings: Teaching Our Children Hindu Heritage
Often, we find ourselves feeling helpless, disheartened, and even questioning the decision to migrate from Bharat. Somewhere deep inside, many of us "Discover simple, heartfelt ways to pass on Hindu Dharm to your children. From daily prayers to understanding traditions, this guide helps parents nurture pride, faith, and cultural heritage at home." worry “Our children are not learning our traditions. They don’t understand our festivals. They lack the same faith we grew up with.” This thought often brings sadness and sometimes guilt. We wonder, “Is there really nothing we can do? Will our desire to pass on our cultural heritage always remain unfulfilled?” My take is simple , No, this can change. It’s a journey… a door that you just have to open, and the rest will follow. Believe me, I’m a parent too. I understand the exhaustion the endless cycle of work, kids, chores, and responsibilities that leave little room for anything else. But sometimes, amidst all of this, a small spark of intention can change everything. Take me as a friend, not a teacher or preacher. Read this as a simple heart-to heart conversation between two parents who care deeply about their roots. We do so much to solve every problem in life from planning our careers to managing our homes. So, just for a moment, give this friend in me a chance too Step One: Ask Yourself “Why?” Before you begin teaching your child about Hindu Dharm, ask yourself ..Why do I want my child to learn it? This why is the foundation the very first step. It’s important that both parents have clarity and agreement on this question. Let me share my own “why.” It may help you reflect on yours. • I want my child to feel proud of their heritage to know where they come from. • I want my child to have clarity about the big words Hindu, Dharm, Bhagwan, Karma, and the purpose of life. • I believe that pride brings conviction. Once they understand who they are and why they believe what they do, they will never feel lost. • A proud and confident mind develops strength, stability, and inner peace. Passing on our Hindu heritage isn’t about forcing rituals. it’s about building awareness and pride in our children’s hearts. It’s about helping them realize that Hindu Dharm isn’t just a religion. it’s a way of living with balance, purpose, and gratitude. So, let’s begin this journey, one small step at a time. Because change doesn’t begin in temples or classrooms it begins at home, in the quiet stories we tell, the prayers we share, and the pride we carry in our hearts. Starting Small: Bringing Hindu Dharm into Daily Life Knowing our Hindu Dharm isn’t just about reading scriptures , it’s about living their essence, every single day. The beauty of Sanatan Dharm lies in its simplicity. You don’t have to do everything at once. You just have to begin , with love, sincerity, and consistency. Here’s something simple you can start from tomorrow morning. Morning Practice As soon as you wake up, go to your puja sthal , your sacred corner at home. Fold your hands before Bhagwan and say gently: “Bhagwan, please allow me to come closer to You and to know You more deeply.” You don’t need a long prayer. Just a moment of surrender , a simple wish from your heart. Night Practice: Before you close your eyes at night, say another short prayer: “Please God, help me come closer to You and bless me and my family with peace.” Before starting this practice, if your child shows hesitation or questions the act of prayer, tell them, it’s absolutely fine to question, to doubt, and even to disagree. But before disbelief, one must first understand. Explain that it’s only logical, to truly know a concept before forming an opinion about it. Till then, show respect for the process and stay open to learning. Divine grace comes only to those who are sincere and ready. We can only understand Bhagwan when He Himself allows us. That’s why we begin by seeking His permission, asking Him to extend His hand and let us feel His presence. Hari vyapak sarvatra samana, prem se prakat hoyi main jana. (Bhagwan’s divine presence is everywhere, but He reveals Himself only through love and faith.) Let this simple practice become a gentle part of your day, like brushing your teeth or saying goodnight to your loved ones. After 11 days, once this routine feels natural, let’s take one small step further. Most of us know the Hanuman Chalisa. This time, don’t just read it, understand it. Use Google or any book to read one verse a day and learn its meaning. Each word in the Chalisa holds strength, devotion, and divine protection. When you understand what you chant, your faith deepens , it’s no longer a ritual, but a connection. The Magic of Consistency, Over time, you’ll start noticing subtle changes. Your mornings will feel calmer, your mind lighter, and your heart more peaceful. The prayer you began as a “task” will slowly become your inner strength, a light within you. There will come a day when none of this will feel like effort. It will become your energy, your protection , your peace. Think of it this way: if there’s a cliff ahead, you start preparing to protect your child long before they reach the edge. Similarly, start now. A life disconnected from Bhagwan can easily lose direction. We can’t control what the world throws at our children , challenges, failures, habits, or setbacks. But we can help them control what happens within, their emotions, their thoughts, their mind. They can learn languages, sports, and skills , all of which are beautiful. But if you truly want your child to experience peace , whether they’re at the top of their success or struggling to reach it, let Bhakti (devotion) and Gyaan (knowledge of Bhagwan) be their guiding light. That light will keep them safe from darkness . It will give them courage, clarity, and the ultimate peace that no external success can offer. Conclusion: Trust the Process The reason I am not giving you Step 3, Step 4, and so on, is because I have very strong faith in the process. I feel that we just need to open the door and start the process , the guiding light will come. Your journey should be to know Bhagwan. Understand everything you do, and why
