  • Between the Two Worlds: Roots and Wings: Teaching Our Children Hindu Heritage

Often, we find ourselves feeling helpless, disheartened, and even questioning the decision to migrate from Bharat. Somewhere deep inside, many of us "Discover simple, heartfelt ways to pass on Hindu Dharm to your children. From daily prayers to understanding traditions, this guide helps parents nurture pride, faith, and cultural heritage at home." worry “Our children are not learning our traditions. They don’t understand our festivals. They lack the same faith we grew up with.” This thought often brings sadness and sometimes guilt. We wonder, “Is there really nothing we can do? Will our desire to pass on our cultural heritage always remain unfulfilled?” My take is simple , No, this can change. It’s a journey… a door that you just have to open, and the rest will follow. Believe me, I’m a parent too. I understand the exhaustion the endless cycle of work, kids, chores, and responsibilities that leave little room for anything else. But sometimes, amidst all of this, a small spark of intention can change everything. Take me as a friend, not a teacher or preacher. Read this as a simple heart-to heart conversation between two parents who care deeply about their roots. We do so much to solve every problem in life from planning our careers to managing our homes. So, just for a moment, give this friend in me a chance too Step One: Ask Yourself “Why?” Before you begin teaching your child about Hindu Dharm, ask yourself ..Why do I want my child to learn it? This why is the foundation the very first step. It’s important that both parents have clarity and agreement on this question. Let me share my own “why.” It may help you reflect on yours. • I want my child to feel proud of their heritage to know where they come from. • I want my child to have clarity about the big words Hindu, Dharm, Bhagwan, Karma, and the purpose of life. • I believe that pride brings conviction. Once they understand who they are and why they believe what they do, they will never feel lost. • A proud and confident mind develops strength, stability, and inner peace. Passing on our Hindu heritage isn’t about forcing rituals. it’s about building awareness and pride in our children’s hearts. It’s about helping them realize that Hindu Dharm isn’t just a religion. it’s a way of living with balance, purpose, and gratitude. So, let’s begin this journey, one small step at a time. Because change doesn’t begin in temples or classrooms it begins at home, in the quiet stories we tell, the prayers we share, and the pride we carry in our hearts. Starting Small: Bringing Hindu Dharm into Daily Life Knowing our Hindu Dharm isn’t just about reading scriptures , it’s about living their essence, every single day. The beauty of Sanatan Dharm lies in its simplicity. You don’t have to do everything at once. You just have to begin , with love, sincerity, and consistency. Here’s something simple you can start from tomorrow morning. Morning Practice As soon as you wake up, go to your puja sthal , your sacred corner at home. Fold your hands before Bhagwan and say gently: “Bhagwan, please allow me to come closer to You and to know You more deeply.” You don’t need a long prayer. Just a moment of surrender , a simple wish from your heart. Night Practice: Before you close your eyes at night, say another short prayer: “Please God, help me come closer to You and bless me and my family with peace.” Before starting this practice, if your child shows hesitation or questions the act of prayer, tell them, it’s absolutely fine to question, to doubt, and even to disagree. But before disbelief, one must first understand. Explain that it’s only logical, to truly know a concept before forming an opinion about it. Till then, show respect for the process and stay open to learning. Divine grace comes only to those who are sincere and ready. We can only understand Bhagwan when He Himself allows us. That’s why we begin by seeking His permission, asking Him to extend His hand and let us feel His presence. Hari vyapak sarvatra samana, prem se prakat hoyi main jana. (Bhagwan’s divine presence is everywhere, but He reveals Himself only through love and faith.) Let this simple practice become a gentle part of your day, like brushing your teeth or saying goodnight to your loved ones. After 11 days, once this routine feels natural, let’s take one small step further. Most of us know the Hanuman Chalisa. This time, don’t just read it, understand it. Use Google or any book to read one verse a day and learn its meaning. Each word in the Chalisa holds strength, devotion, and divine protection. When you understand what you chant, your faith deepens , it’s no longer a ritual, but a connection. The Magic of Consistency, Over time, you’ll start noticing subtle changes. Your mornings will feel calmer, your mind lighter, and your heart more peaceful. The prayer you began as a “task” will slowly become your inner strength, a light within you. There will come a day when none of this will feel like effort. It will become your energy, your protection , your peace. Think of it this way: if there’s a cliff ahead, you start preparing to protect your child long before they reach the edge. Similarly, start now. A life disconnected from Bhagwan can easily lose direction. We can’t control what the world throws at our children , challenges, failures, habits, or setbacks. But we can help them control what happens within, their emotions, their thoughts, their mind. They can learn languages, sports, and skills , all of which are beautiful. But if you truly want your child to experience peace , whether they’re at the top of their success or struggling to reach it, let Bhakti (devotion) and Gyaan (knowledge of Bhagwan) be their guiding light. That light will keep them safe from darkness . It will give them courage, clarity, and the ultimate peace that no external success can offer. Conclusion: Trust the Process The reason I am not giving you Step 3, Step 4, and so on, is because I have very strong faith in the process. I feel that we just need to open the door and start the process , the guiding light will come. Your journey should be to know Bhagwan. Understand everything you do, and why

  • Hindu Canadians Celebrate Landmark Victory in Parliament: Swastika Removed from Bill C-9 as a reference to Hate Symbol

Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF) is proud to celebrate a significant and meaningful victory in the Canadian Parliament. Members of Parliament, with unanimous support across party lines, have amended Bill C-9 to remove the sacred " Swastika " from the legislation's list of prohibited hate symbols. The word "Nazi" has now been dissociated from Swastika, and references will be made to "Nazi Hakenkreuz" instead. This moment signifies not only a triumph for Hindu Canadians but also a testament to the power of democracy, dialogue, and collective advocacy. For generations, the swastika has been revered in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and other Dharmic traditions as a symbol of auspiciousness, peace, and well‑being. Yet, in the modern era, its sacred meaning has often been misunderstood, conflated with the Nazi “Hakenkreuz,” and unfairly stigmatized. The amendment to Bill C‑9 corrects this historical error, ensuring that Canada’s laws reflect both the fight against hate and the protection of cultural heritage. This achievement was not won overnight. It is the result of tireless efforts by the Hindu Canadian Foundation, allied organizations, community leaders, and everyday citizens who stood together to defend dignity and truth. From the moment Bill C‑9 was introduced, HCF recognized the urgent need to act. The inclusion of the swastika among prohibited hate symbols threatened to erase centuries of sacred tradition and stigmatize millions of Canadians who hold the symbol dear. Petitions and outreach :  Thousands of individuals signed HCF petition , wrote letters, and contacted their representatives to explain the difference between the swastika and the Nazi Hakenkreuz . Community education:  HCF organized Events, cultural sessions, and Products to educate Canadians about the true meaning of the swastika. Coalition building:  Over 100 allied organizations endorsed HCF’s submission to Parliament, demonstrating the strength of collective action. HCF Delivered Compelling and Influential Testimony to the Justice Committee: HCF President, Arunesh Giri, submitted powerful testimony to the Justice Committee , highlighting the historical, cultural, and spiritual significance of the swastika. The testimony emphasised that banning the symbol would not combat hate but instead perpetuate misunderstanding and marginalisation. https://www.ourcommons.ca/documentviewer/en/45-1/JUST/meeting-12/notice HCF President Arunesh Giri stood before the Justice Committee to present testimony , marking a powerful moment in the advocacy journey. The committee heard from scholars, community leaders, and everyday citizens who spoke with clarity and conviction. Their voices carried the weight of generations, reminding Parliament that laws must be precise, just, and culturally sensitive. One of the most inspiring aspects of this victory is the spirit of cooperation that made it possible. Liberal Party leadership:  Liberal Party Members of Parliament played a pivotal role in advancing the amendment to remove the swastika from Bill C‑9. Their openness to dialogue, careful consideration of community concerns, and decisive action exemplify true leadership. Conservative Party and Bloc Québécois support:   These parties joined in recognising the importance of correcting the legislation. Their unanimous support reflects a shared commitment to justice. Unanimous vote:  In an era often marked by division, this amendment passed with unity. It is a shining example of Canada at its best, where leaders rise above partisanship to protect minority voices and correct historical errors. This victory was not achieved by Hindu Canadians alone. It was strengthened by the solidarity of other communities who recognised the importance of justice and dignity. Jewish organisations:  The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) and B’nai Brith Canada stood side by side with Hindu Canadians. Their support underscored the shared commitment to fighting hate while respecting heritage. Interfaith cooperation:  Leaders from diverse backgrounds joined in affirming that Canada can combat hatred without erasing sacred symbols. Academics and researchers:  Scholars provided historical clarity, distinguishing between the swastika and the Nazi “Hakenkreuz.” Their expertise ensured that Parliament acted with knowledge and precision. Why This Victory Matters to Every Canadian: Protecting Heritage: For Hindu Canadians, the swastika is not merely a symbol; it is a living tradition. It adorns temples, homes, and sacred ceremonies. It represents prosperity, auspiciousness, and the eternal cycle of life. To stigmatise it would be to stigmatise the community itself. Fighting Hate Effectively: Removing the swastika from the list of prohibited hate symbols, strengthens Canada’s fight against hate by ensuring that laws target actual instruments of hatred rather than misidentified cultural symbols. Affirming Democracy: This victory proves that democracy thrives when voices unite. From grassroots petitions to parliamentary debates, every step of the process reflected the power of collective action. Citizens spoke, leaders listened, and justice prevailed. HCF extends heartfelt thanks to: Members of Parliament  across all parties who supported the amendment. Allied organisations: over 100 + organisations that endorsed HCF’s submission. Community leaders and everyday citizens  who signed petitions, wrote letters, and raised awareness. Jewish organisations,  including CIJA and B’nai Brith Canada, for their solidarity. This amendment is more than a legislative change; it is a beacon of justice. It sends a clear message: Canada can fight hate without erasing heritage. It affirms that voices matter, that cultural dignity must be protected, and that democracy is strengthened when communities stand together. For Hindu Canadians, this moment will be remembered as a turning point. It restores the swastika to its rightful place as a sacred symbol and ensures that future generations can celebrate their heritage without fear of stigma. Looking Ahead - Path Forward: The victory on Bill C‑9 is not the end of the journey. It is the beginning of a renewed commitment to advocacy, education, and unity. HCF will continue to educate Canadians about the swastika’s sacred meaning. Misunderstandings persist, and it is essential to ensure that schools, media, and public institutions present accurate information. This victory demonstrated the power of interfaith and intercultural cooperation. HCF will build on these relationships, fostering dialogue and solidarity across communities. Whenever cultural symbols are misunderstood or misrepresented, HCF will stand ready to defend dignity. This victory sets a precedent for how Canada can balance the fight against hate with respect for heritage. The unanimous amendment to Bill C‑9 is a landmark victory for Hindu Canadians and for all communities committed to justice and dignity. It reflects the best of Canada, where leaders listen, communities unite, and democracy thrives. The Hindu Canadian Foundation celebrates this amendment as a beacon of justice, a triumph of truth, and a testament to the power of collective action. • Hindu Canadian Foundation Demands Accountability from CTV Featuring Hinduphobic Poster - ACT NOW

Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF) expresses its deep condemnation of the latest CTV broadcast that provided a platform to an individual who appeared with a background poster explicitly stating “NO Hindi,” “NO Hindutva,” and “NO Hindustan.” These terms are not mere slogans; they represent a direct attack on the Hindu community: Hindi: a language broadly spoken by Hindus in India and cherished by Billions worldwide. Hindutva: the spiritual ethos and cultural identity of Hindus. Hindustan: the land that is home to billions of Hindus. By allowing this poster to be displayed, CTVNews   has inadvertently amplified hate speech and propaganda that fosters division, spreads misinformation, and incites hostility toward Hindu Canadians. HCF demands accountability and clarity from CTV: 1. Does CTV endorse or condone the spread of Hinduphobia on its platform? 2. What editorial standards permitted Hinduphobic content to be broadcast unchallenged by CTV? 3. What steps will CTV take to ensure such Hinduphobic, harmful contents are not repeated? HCF calls on CTV to issue a public clarification and reaffirm its commitment to fair, respectful, and inclusive journalism. Hate speech and extremist propaganda must never be given legitimacy in Canadian media. “Send the email now to hold CTV accountable. Sign it and encourage others to sign as well. If we do not speak for ourselves, no one will. Act now.” @globalnews @TorontoStar @CityNewsTO @nationalpost @CBCNews @ToddCTV   #cdnmedia   #cdnpoli   #hinducanadian   #khalistan   #extremists   #cbke   #extrmist

  • HinduPhobia - HCF Condemns Hate-Motivated Vandalism in Mississauga

Mississauga, ON – October 2025 The Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF) strongly condemns the growing pattern of hostility targeting the Indian community in Mississauga. The most recent incident near Webb Drive and Grand Park Drive , where hateful slurs such as “Indian Rats”  were used, is deeply troubling. These acts of intolerance violate the very principles of diversity, dignity, and mutual respect that form the foundation of Canadian society. We extend our gratitude to Peel Police’s Hate Crime Unit  for their prompt and decisive response. On October 15, 2025 , officers arrested 29-year-old Freda Looker-Rilloraza  for hate-motivated vandalism. This action underscores the importance of treating Hinduphobia and all forms of hate with urgency, accountability, and zero tolerance. HCF’s Stand Against Hinduphobia: HCF stands firmly in solidarity with the Indian community and all those affected by this incident. Hate has no place in our neighborhoods, temples, or public spaces. As an organization dedicated to protecting Hindu dignity and cultural heritage, we will continue to call out such acts and advocate for stronger safeguards against hate crimes. This incident is a reminder that vigilance is essential. We urge community members to remain united, report incidents promptly, and support one another in the face of hostility. Together, we can ensure that Mississauga and Canada as a whole remains a safe, inclusive, and welcoming place for all. Canada’s multicultural spirit is its strength. It is our collective responsibility to uphold it, defend it, and ensure that no community feels marginalized or unsafe. HCF will continue to monitor developments, engage with law enforcement, and amplify community voices to ensure accountability and justice.

  • HCF Leads the Fight Against FIREWORKS BAN in Mississauga - Action Oriented Grassroot Advocacy

Mississauga (ON)  – For the third time, Mississauga City attempted to push forward a fireworks ban, despite lacking credible supporting data and without addressing more pressing concerns facing the city. The timing of these repeated attempts often coinciding with Hindu festivals such as Navratri and Diwali, raises serious questions about whether cultural traditions are being unfairly targeted. HCF at the Forefront: The Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF)  has been at the forefront of opposing this motion, leading visible and action-oriented advocacy efforts. From mobilizing community members to presenting delegations, HCF has consistently defended the right of Hindu Canadians to celebrate their traditions with dignity. Mayor Carolyn Parrish has repeatedly cited vague reasons, including comparisons to neighboring cities, as justification for the ban. However, HCF has highlighted that punishing an entire community for isolated incidents is unjust and unsupported by evidence. HCF Constantly called out double standards taken by Carolyn, check out X for our efforts and calling out the truth: https://x.com/officialHinduCF/status/1973108338838700284?s=20 Community Mobilization On October 1, 2025 , HCF organized the Chalo Mississauga  event, bringing more than 100 people to City Hall. HCF member Sai Gayatri , an environmental engineer, delivered a powerful delegation opposing the ban. Thanks to HCF’s advocacy, several councillors assured the community that they would not support such an autocratic measure. HCF also ran sustained campaigns, ensuring that voices were heard at City Hall and that the broader public was informed. Despite political maneuvering and last-minute procedural changes that denied most delegates the right to speak, HCF’s persistence ensured that the ban was withdrawn. Instead, Council opted for regulation rather than prohibition. Thanks to the strong advocacy and delegation of HCF, many councilors assured HCF that they would not support this autocratic ban. https://x.com/officialHinduCF/status/1974862392447131748?s=20 https://x.com/officialHinduCF/status/1973847582775652426?s=20 https://x.com/officialHinduCF/status/1973749916552896525?s=20 HCF once again took the initiative and launched another campaign to ensure that the voices of people in Mississauga City Hall were heard against the autocratic decision. A large number of people turned up, and this time, some political maneuvering occurred, resulting in a backdoor deal between the mayor and an organization. The mayor withdrew the BAN and decided not to ban fireworks in Mississauga but to regulate them instead. Councillor Dipika Damerla, who had been leading this fight, was not even consulted. All the delegation speakers who were prepared to present their case were denied the opportunity to speak, marking a dark day for democracy. However, it was a significant victory for the Hindu community, though not without vigilance. A Win for the Community, But Vigilance Needed: While the withdrawal of the ban was a major victory for the Hindu Canadians , the process revealed troubling gaps in democratic practice: 32 delegates registered, yet 31 were denied the right to speak. Only one speaker from one of the organizations was permitted to speak for 5 minutes, which was arranged through a backdoor deal. Ultimately, the Council chose to adopt Option 2 (with modifications for extended hours) , which implemented restrictions without imposing a complete ban. This decision offers temporary relief to the 99.97% of Mississauga residents who celebrate fireworks on Canada Day, Victoria Day, Lunar New Year, Diwali, and New Year's Eve. HCF president Arunesh Giri criticized the unjustified ban during his interview with CTV News, as detailed below: Looking Ahead: HCF acknowledges the support of councillors such as Dipika Damerla , who advocated for extending fireworks hours to 6–10 PM, ensuring families had a fair window to celebrate. However, the Mayor has already hinted at revisiting the ban in the future. HCF remains vigilant. We will continue to monitor developments, challenge misinformation, and advocate for the rights of Hindu Canadians to celebrate their traditions freely and respectfully. Victory, but not without vigilance.  The Hindu Canadian Foundation will stand united with the community to ensure that culture, tradition, and freedom of celebration are never compromised.

  • Celebrating Tradition: The First Durga Bisarjan in Lake Ontario by Toronto Durgabari

Writer - By Dr Sushital Choudhury and Dr Hira Lal Paul Editor: Hindu Canadian Foundation Toronto, October 10, 2025 – In a powerful display of cultural pride and spiritual devotion, the Bengali community of Toronto witnessed a historic milestone on October 1, as the Toronto Durgabari organized the first-ever Durga Bisarjan (Pratima immersion) in Lake Ontario. Held at Woodbine Beach, this event marked the first time that the traditional conclusion of Durga Puja, the farewell immersion of Goddess Durga, was performed in Canada in accordance with all traditional rituals. Hindu women devotees leading spirited rituals in celebration and devotion. A Vision Realized, A Tradition Reborn Durga Puja, the most celebrated festival for Bengalis Hindu Community worldwide, often feels incomplete in the diaspora due to the absence of Bisarjan , the sacred ritual where the Goddess is returned to the waters, symbolizing her return to Mount Kailash. But this year, Toronto Durgabari changed that narrative. With the support of local municipal authorities and months of planning, the temple secured all necessary permissions to conduct the immersion safely and respectfully. Over 1,000 devotees gathered on Bijoya Dashami (October 1) to bid farewell to the goddess in a moving ceremony that blended the spiritual with the spectacular. “This is a dream come true,” said a volunteer from Team Durgabari. “For years, we have celebrated Durga Puja abroad without the soul-touching end that immersion brings. Today, that changed.” Rituals, Music, and Devotion by the Lakeside The day began with early morning prayers, bhajans, and ritualistic preparations at Woodbine Beach. The lakeside was transformed with temporary idol stations, designated parking, and an army of volunteers managing logistics and safety. Traditional dhakis (drummers) filled the air with rhythmic beats, while women participated in Sindoor Khela, a joyful and emotional ritual where vermillion is smeared among married women. Cultural performances by local artists and children, including devotional songs and dances, added richness to the occasion. As evening fell, the crowd gathered for the immersion procession. The idols of Goddess Durga and her children were carefully carried to the lake amid chants of "Bolo Durga Mai Ki Jai!" The moment was emotionally charged, as families, elders, and children watched the immersion with tearful eyes and hopeful hearts. Safety and Support: A Community United The event was made possible through close collaboration with the City of Toronto, Toronto Police Services, and several local organizations. Strict adherence to environmental and safety protocols ensured that the immersion was conducted responsibly. Volunteers managed crowd control, first aid, and eco-friendly cleanup efforts post-immersion. “This was not just a religious event; it was a community milestone,” said a representative from the Toronto Police. “The collaboration and planning were exemplary.” Inspiration Across North America The successful Bisarjan has inspired Bengali Hindu communities across the continent. Social media was flooded with images and videos of the event, and many praised Toronto Durgabari for its pioneering effort. “This is more than a cultural celebration, it’s a blueprint,” said a priest from a temple in New Jersey. “Toronto has shown us what’s possible when devotion meets determination.” A Message Beyond Borders In a world where diaspora communities often struggle to maintain their cultural identity, Toronto’s Durga Bisarjan sent a strong message: Traditions can evolve and flourish, even thousands of miles away from home. As the last of the chants faded into the waves of Lake Ontario, one thing became clear—this was not just an ending, but the beginning of a new chapter for Durga Puja celebrations in North America. 🕉️ Durga Puja 2025 will be remembered not only for its devotion but for its daring, where faith, culture, and community came together on the shores of a Canadian lake to write history. #navratri #durga #bengalihindu #hindu #bisarjam #lake #ontario #toronto #durgabari

  • Community Demands Action: Mr. President Keshav, Stop Alcohol at Diwali Event in Mata Vaishno Devi Mandir, Oakville

Protecting Dharma Starts with Us and Our Places of Worship: SAVE Temples, Save Traditions. On this sacred occasion of Navratri 2025. when we invoke the blessings of Maa Durga to remove obstacles and restore righteousness, we are launching a campaign to preserve the sanctity of our traditions. Source - Vaishno Devi Website https://vaishnodevi.ca/page/executive-committee President Keshav Agnihotri has persisted in supporting/Being Silent a profoundly adharmic practice by remaining silent about the serving of alcohol at the Diwali event conducted under the sacred banner of Mata Vaishno Devi Mandir. This choice starkly contradicts the spiritual principles and cultural values that our Dharma embodies. Despite numerous appeals from HCF and concerned community members, Keshav Agnihotri, President of the Temple, has remained silent, offering neither clarification nor justification. In matters of faith and tradition, silence is not neutrality, it is complicity. HCF believe this decision causes irreparable harm to our youth, distorts the sacredness of our festivals, and undermines the very principles our Mandir stands for. For the past three years, HCF has consistently called for an end to this adharmic and anti-Hindu practice. Yet, despite sustained advocacy and repeated appeals, the Executive Committee has failed to issue any formal or decisive commitment to discontinue the serving of alcohol at events held under the temple’s banner. Email Screenshots sent to Stop allowing Serving Alcohol, however no response received despite multiple follow ups, all communications are controlled by President who has been allegedly involved in well established ANTI-HINDU Activities. The initial email was sent on July 2, 2025 by HCF, to prohibit serving alcohol at the Diwali function organized by our Mata Rani Vaishno Devi Mandir. Anyone living in this region knows that this anti-Hindu tradition has been ongoing for a long time. Two follow-up emails were sent, but Keshav, who manages the email address, has not provided any confirmation on this critical issue affecting Hindu community sentiments. First Reminder Second Reminder Keshav and some committee members are attempting to deceive those who lack knowledge of the temple's history. However, as evidence, we are including here a ticket and email from 2023 that clearly advertise a "CASH BAR" on the ticket. Diwlali Email from Temple Committee Ticket from 2023 clearly states CASH BAR: Check Ticket Above - Clearly Mentions CASH BAR This continued inaction speaks volumes and it is deeply troubling to all who seek to uphold the sanctity of our Dharma. Take Action Now: Send a respectful but firm email to the Executive Committee urging them to immediately stop the serving of alcohol at any event held under the temple’s name. Let them know that our Dharma is not negotiable, and our festivals must remain pure, family-friendly, and spiritually uplifting. info@vaishnodevimandir.ca secretary@vaishnodevimandir.ca programs@vaishnodevimandir.ca treasurer@vaishnodevimandir.ca president@vaishnodevimandir.ca Subject Line Suggestion: “Preserve the Sanctity of Diwali, Stop Alcohol at Vaishno Devi Mandir Event” READ more details in the flyers; required information will be released as necessary to STOP THIS ANTI-HINDU Tradition which attacks our faith and values. #ProtectDharma   #VaishnoDeviMandir   #StopAlcoholAtMandir   #HinduUnity   #DiwaliWithDevotion HCF is dedicated to preserving Hindu culture in every form and location, both within our places of worship and in the broader world, where it affects the sentiments of the Hindu community. The Divine Walk Begins, at 8:00 AM, hundreds of devotees gathered at the Vaishno Devi Temple premises, marking the start of the Yatra with a divine walk. Participants adorned themselves with Tripund Tilak, chanted “Har Har Mahadev,” and moved through the temple grounds in a serene and peaceful atmosphere that radiated spiritual energy. A Living Symbol of Devotion In a heartwarming gesture, the praroop (embodiment) of Bhagwan Shiv was represented by young Vivaan, who led the Yatra with grace and innocence. Devotees performed Jalabhishek the sacred water offering to Lord Shiva, followed by collective chanting and prayers for the well-being of the community. Seva and Satvik Hospitality: After the spiritual rituals, attendees were served FREE satvik food, lovingly prepared without onion or garlic to honor traditional Hindu dietary customs. In addition, FREE Gangajal holy water from the Ganga was distributed to all devotees which was offered to Bhagwan Shiva. A Tradition That Grows With Faith: Despite challenges, the Hindu Canadian Foundation remains unwavering in its commitment to continue the Kawad Yatra. Each year, the event grows in participation and spiritual impact, becoming a cornerstone of Hindu cultural life in Canada. The Kawad Yatra is more than a ritual it’s a living expression of dharma, devotion, and community spirit. The Hindu Canadian Foundation invites all to join this sacred journey and help carry its legacy forward Hindu Canadian Foundation has been conducting this Yatra FREE since Day 01 though it has a lot of costs involved, we thank all Our supporters trough out the year who made it successful with their contributions. Glimpse from Kawad Yatra 2025:

  • "It’s Not the Swastika — Why Toronto Star Must Use 'Hakenkreuz' When Referring to the Nazi Symbol"

We stand in full support of the Canadian government’s efforts to ban hate symbols that have a documented history of inciting violence and hatred against communities. However, in doing so, it is important that terminology is used accurately and responsibly. It is deeply concerning to see the sacred Hindu symbol “Swastika” mischaracterized. The Swastika, revered by approximately 1.5 billion Hindus worldwide including over 1.5 million in Canada, is a symbol of peace and well-being with thousands of years of cultural significance. Jewish organizations, including @bnaibrithcanada , have clearly differentiated the Swastika from the hate symbol “Hakenkreuz,” often referred to as the Nazi emblem. Groups such as Hindu Canadian Foundation, @JainCanadian @CaHiHaOfficial @hindu_canadian , and many others have actively worked to highlight this distinction. Their advocacy has been acknowledged by various cities, councils, and institutions across Canada. Call to Action: @TorontoStar @markramzyy   We strongly urge you to revise your article by replacing the term “Swastika” with “Hakenkreuz” when referring to the Nazi symbol, as this misrepresentation deeply affects Hindu Canadians. @MarkJCarney @CanadianPM @CdnHeritage   We call upon the government to include Hindu advocacy organizations as stakeholders when drafting policies or lists that involve cultural or religious symbols. This will ensure that community perspectives are respected and properly represented. #swastika   #hinducanadian https://x.com/markramzyy/status/1947424997825216568 https://www.thestar.com/politics/federal/canadian-government-considers-criminalizing-hate-and-terror-symbols/article_f6365898-2fbc-4a5b-98df-54cd234dacfb.html Swastika Vs Hakenkreuz
